Far Beyond the Line of Decency: Phil Wilson Recent Comments Regarding Hughes

A good deal of blame should also be laid at the feet of one very unprofessional journalist, Phil B. Wilson. As a Colts fan ever since the 1970's, I find that Phil Wilson is one of the worst journalists that I have ever seen cover the Colts. Recently, he made a personal attack on Bill Polian calling him cowardly for releasing a story to Chris Mortensen before him. Having observed Mr. Wilson's recent work, and I use the term loosely, the story should have been given to Mortensen as he is always professional. This identifies the heart of the problem with Phil Wilson. He is grossly unprofessional. Even more recently, he referred to a recent draft pick of the Colts, Jerry Hughes, as behaving like a dog that had urinated on the rug. This is still more evidence of why Mr. Wilson it too unprofessional to cover the Colts. I cannot see the purpose in such vulgarity. Children do listen to the radio and read about sports. As an adult, I do not want to hear it or read it either. It is not news, but the biased filth that issues from his mouth or pen. I believe that you treat others as you would have them treat you. Hughes is a young player and it sometimes takes young players time to develop. If Mr. Polian has confidence in the young man, then that speaks volumes for me. Mr. Polian's accomplishments have established him as a legend among NFL executives. Who is Phil Wilson to criticize Mr. Polian, players, or anyone. Further, Mr. Hughes should not be demeaned in this way by Phil Wilson, as his remarks are lacking in basic human decency. In my book, you do not kick someone when they are down and you do not impugn anyone's human dignity. This is not surprising in that it comes from Phil Wilson as I find him to be generally devoid of values. Phil Wilson is unfit for service as journalist to cover the Colts and should be reassigned in my opinion. The NFL and the teams exert great effort to promote good character and values. Mr. Wilson demeans the sport.
