Super scarves for Indy

Knitting and the Super Bowl aren’t exactly birds of a feather, but this year’s 8,000 volunteers will be decked out in hand-made scarves in Colts colors:

Super Bowl XLVI will be Feb. 5 in Indianapolis. Last year, Super Bowl organizers asked knitters from around the world to knit blue and white scarves for the event’s 8,000 volunteers.

Five members of St. Cloud Knitters, a group of knitters, made seven scarves for the volunteer project. Overall, 12,494 handmade scarves have been donated, according to the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
