Make or Break: A Training Camp Insight

As a charming little prelude to this link, in my hometown of London, Canada – the country of ice – temperatures were, with humidity, around 110 degrees today. While Indy hopefully isn't quite as hot, a few Colt players probably think it is; Tyler Brooke has an article on a few players who stand to gain or lose everything in training camp. A few players have dropped the ball in the preseason, but others – like Donald Brown – need to show that they can make an impact this year.

As if [Vick Ballard's success] didn't make Brown's future in Indy uncertain, the arrival of Ahmad Bradshaw now officially puts Brown on the hot seat.  The fact is that Brown has failed to break 700 yards in a season and averaged only 3.9 yards per carry when on the field last season. While there's no guarantee that Brown is gone after the preseason, he certainly needs to surprise more than a few people if he hopes to be on the final roster to start the year.

Other hot-seat folk include LaVon Brazill and Joe Lefeged, who might need to contribute some community service before they're back on the roster, and Chandler Harnish, who – as a third string quarterback – is hopefully never going to be used or necessary … and that, alone, might make Indy decide to swap in another player.

Harnish is like the faded Cade McNown shirt in the back of your closet – perfectly fine as far as shirts go, but if you're wearing it around, something is clearly wrong.
