It wasn't a long stretch, but according to RTV6, Ryan Grigson has been named the NFL's top executive this year after his outstanding job in the draft and in free agency prior to the team's 9-win turnaround.
Grigson, 41, was selected by coaches and executives for the honor, winning a 9-8 vote over Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway, Sporting News said. [He] earned high marks for the selections made in last year's NFL draft, when Indianapolis picked up Andrew Luck, Coby Fleener, T.Y. Hilton, Dwayne Allen, Vick Ballard and LaVon Brazill.
Elway picked up Manning (slow clap). Grigson picked up a team … so for the vote to be that close is odd, to say the least. Without Grigson's acquisition of guys like Jarrell Freeman and Vontae Davis, the Colts would have stumbled more times that naught last year – and they're the guys no one mentions.
