CHFF: Career Playoff QB stats

Our pal Captain Comback Scott Kacsmar has a great statistical breakdown of playoff quarterbacks and their accomplishments. You shouldn’t be surprised that Peyton Manning’s legacy as a choker is once again firmly rebuked by the numbers.  Specifically, Manning had pretty good results while working with pretty lousy odds:

Flacco has the best field position because he’s started 21.2% of his drives in opponent territory, which is the highest percentage of all 25 quarterbacks. He’s had 22 such drives in 9 playoff games. Compare that to someone like Peyton Manning, who has just 15 drives in opponent territory in 19 games (7.5% is lowest rate).

What? You say that Peyton Manning had lousy special teams support? I’m shocked!

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
