Another Manning denies rumors

Archie has denied the news from Rob Lowe that Peyton is retiring. Jim Irsay commented with something probably not fit for a family website. Now older brother Cooper weighs in:

When the Daily News contacted Cooper Manning, he said he spoke to Peyton for an hour Tuesday night and retirement was never mentioned. “That would surprise me,” he said. “He’s committed to working out and getting healthy – meaning getting ready to play.”

Cooper Manning called Lowe’s post, “Very out of left field. I don’t think there’s any reason to even answer it. I have no idea where that’s coming from.”

Not to be repetitive, but please note that Cooper is quite clear: Manning is preparing to play. Unless he can’t go by March 8 I’d expect Peyton Manning to play 2012 in a Colts uniform.

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
