Injury Updates: Freeman, Angerer, Fleener and Lefeged Return to Practice

Several players returned to practice on Wednesday afternoon, a great improvement on sketchy depth at key positions.

It was announced that Pat Angerer and Ahmad Bradshaw were moved from the PUP onto the active roster on Tuesday, although it is believed that the Colts will continue to take them along slowly. By Wednesday Angerer, Coby Fleener, Jerrell Freemaan and Joe Lefeged all returned to padded practices:

The improved health comes at a time when the Colts desperately needed it. Kavell Conner was forced to play into the fourth quarter of the Colts' first preseason game due to a lack of depth at inside linebacker, and injuries to Justin Hickman and Quinton Spears made the position even thinner.

Fleener's recovery from a concussion comes at a time when Dwayne Allen is being forced to sit on the sidelines for the rest of the preseason. Safety depth has been lacking since LaRon Landry and Sergio Brown were hurt, so Lefeged's return is crucial as well. Lefeged's return also could help a special teams unit that was used and abused last week.

It's possible that some of these players won't play on Sunday, but most of them should. In particular, Angerer won't play, and Fleener needs to pass a few more concussion tests in order to be eligible.
