Replay rules a disaster

It’s quite clear that the replay officials are struggling to find consistency with the new TD replay rule.  In the first two weeks the bizarre tendencies officials showed when deciding which plays should be reviewed frustrated fans and coaches alike.  Gone are the days when a coach can challenge a TD and the new guys aren’t so sharp:

The Chargers coach couldn’t challenge, though, because all scoring plays are now in the hands of the same replay official who determines which plays should be reviewed after the two-minute warning. In terms of scoring plays, the coaches’ challenge is dead. If the replay official doesn’t see it, there is no challenge, no matter what the coach thinks.

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
