Polian wrong about McAfee

Pat McAfee has been stellar this year.  Not only is he nearing Shane Lechler’s statistical performance, but he’s had quite a few critical special teams tackles.

Bill Polian pointed out that Pat needed to improve during his weekly radio show.  Wrong?  You bet and Matt Grecco tells us why:

The lone bright spot in this awful year has been that the Colts aren’t beating themselves with penalties, as they are best in the league on a per-play basis. You’ll also see the second best area on the Offense is the Net Punting Average. You’ll see how silly it was for Polian to single out Pat McAfee.

Pat responded via his Twitter feed.  ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky not only agrees with Grecco but passes out praise for the way McAfee responded:

It’s ridiculous to be critical of McAfee considering the Colts under Polian have generally been terrible on special teams and McAfee has a great leg that’s been an asset. Applause to McAfee for standing up for himself in a graceful way.

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
