Hayes: Confused like Archie

Archie Manning said Andrew Luck and his son Peyton couldn’t play together only to later reverse course.  Reggie Hayes is just as confused:

I don’t want to see Peyton Manning leave Indianapolis. I don’t know anyone who does. He’s the face of the franchise and in many ways the face of the NFL. But I also doubt he’d be too thrilled – if his health lets him continue his career – to be a one- or two-year mentor to Luck in some sort of farewell transition.

On the other hand, nearly every so-called NFL expert believes Luck is the next great quarterback and any team with a chance to build around him should start construction yesterday. The Colts have a head start, already demolishing this season with their historic implosion.

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
