In a game that still stings me today, the Jaguars won a relatively meaningless game in 2006 by running for more than 375 yards on our Colts. To this day people in Jacksonville shout “375!” in the middle of Colts games. The Jaguars went nowhere while the resurgent Colts went on to claim the Lombardi.
Tony Dungy remembers the game well and reminds people everywhere that even after bad games, good things can happen:
“Everybody’s got all kinds of suggestions about what you should do and what you should change and how you’re going to have to do things now,” Dungy remembered.
The Colts pared their defensive package. They simplified. Otherwise they changed nothing. They beat Cincinnati 34-16 the next week.
“So then the question is: Can you do it again?” Dungy said. “Can you do it five times? Can you do it 10 times? Can you do it all year if you have to?”
