Bend, not break

It appears the Colts are retreating to the basics of Cover 2:

“The philosophy of our defense has changed completely and we’re going back to what we used to be, which is that we believe that three 5-yard passes are better than one 20-yard pass,” Polian said during his radio show Monday evening.

“So we’re going to give up some passes and make the tackle afterwards and hope that by the time they’re down in the red zone that they make a mistake or they cough the ball up or later in the game the little receivers are tired of getting hit or you get bounce-offs or interceptions or things like that.”

About Todd Smith

Todd Smith is a part-time sportswriter who spends too much time arguing on Twitter. What he really loves is eating poorly and watching football. He got his first Colts t-shirt in 1984 shortly after the Mayflower trucks arrived and has never given up on his hometown team. He also still holds to the belief that Kordell Stewart stepped out of the end zone and thus cheated the Colts.
